Your just getting around to the realization that a responsive
opt-in list is a vital tool for your business. After reading countless articles, seeking expert advice, and have read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists you finally decide to have one of your own. You find the information that your looking for and you set out to building your email list. You then realize that after some pain staking work you have managed to aquire a list, but haven't been able to gain any profit by it
It's even possible that you're losing money. Little things like outsourcing your content writing or paying to drive traffic to your opt-in could end up adding up to a loss. As time goes by, you realize that instead of the money being in the list - the money in your bank account is dwindling to keep that list!
So what are you doing that's not working? Why have others had success and you have failed? The most common problem is that people dive straight in and start sending promotions without adding any value. You chose a promotion that you think could be good and earn you some money. This ends up not being the case. There are many, especially when starting out, who think they can just immedietely send an offer out and people are going to bite on it.
For those of you who have started an
opt-in list and have failed, you can rejuvenate your failed venture by trying a few of these tips.
1) Get your customers to trust you and your products first. Just getting your customers to sign up to your email list doesn't automatically make you an expert on your topic. Put many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Send out a link to a post or two that you wrote or write a short article and send that to them. Try to put forums first to gain knowledge about your customers about their wants and needs and target those wants and needs.
Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advices and recommendations.Put a signature in your profile directing them to your opt-in offer. They will already have your trust because of the quality answers you give in the forum. They will be much more responsive to your offers.
Truth of the matter is, your only going to get people to buy when they trust what your saying. They want the service or product to be worth the money that they're going to be dishing out for it. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don't know or trust you.
2) You need to be sure that the product or service your promoting is something that people are looking for. Be sure that you have a lot of information on the service or product that your promoting. If your not all that familiar with your topic, then you need to put some effort into reseaching the topic until you are knowledgable enough about it to answer any questions pertaining to it.
While selling something that your knowledgable about can be a simpler task, many times we have to adjust to the customers wants and needs. If you do your reseach on what your list wants, then you should have no problem giving it to them. Don't forget to also keep adding value to your list by way of free content.
3) Get to know well established list owners. This can be very beneficial to you, especially if the person is well established and has already run a couple of successful email campaigns. These are people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. Although there are many resources on building a list, first hand experience is always going to prove to be the best.
Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. There will be different situations for different niches, but the basic concept of building a relationship with your list is still the same. There are many things to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.
Building a profitable
opt-in list don't just happen overnight. Establishing that relationship with them will take some doing. Your list will also be growing as time goes by, so it's important that you keep adding quality value to them to keep them on your opt-in list. Keep it organized and manageable. If need be, you can outsource if your list starts getting to big for you to manage properly. Always remember to keep them happy if you want them to continue to be responsive to your offers.
